Full Name : Sovan Kawasagi
Age : Looks to be somewhere in his early to mid-20s
Gender : Male
Species/Race : Humanoid Furry (feline)
Height : 5'9
Build : Wiry and athletic
Hair or Fur Color : Golden, with light brown hair.
Eye Color : Blue
Clothing, Accessories and Possessions : Clothing:Sovan's usual attire consists of a pale yellow Gi vest with a Yin/Yang motif; along with emerald-green gauntlets and plain black trousers. He usually accessorizes this ensemble with a forest-green traveler's cloak, a wide-brimmed coolie hat, and small rectangular glasses (whether he actually needs them to see is debatable) However, he's been known to possess a more modern version of this outfit in the form of a white tank top, a sun-hued over-shirt with a Yin/Yang motif, and baggy black cargo pants.
Equipment:Sovan's most recognizable possession would be Kamiryuken (Divine Dragon Sword), the enchanted katana he keeps at his side. Secured in a lacquered white scabbard that bears a golden dragon carving along its length, the sword boasts a scale-pattern hilt and a shining blade, which seems to require little in the way of polish or honing. The pommel is in the motif of a snarling dragon's head, with eyes of indigo amethyst set into the hilt (the color sometimes changes depending on the mood of the spirit inhabiting the blade). This sword is possessed by a celestial entity known as the Stardust Dragon, which has since chosen Sovan as its host. As such, the blade has spiritual properties, and would be recognized as a rare artifact by anyone versed in such things.
Other lesser items that Sovan own are his glasses, which carry an enchantment which allows him to translate most forms of written text...and, perhaps more significantly, lets him see objects or entities that might be invisible to the naked eye, concealed by magic! In addition, Sovan's gauntlets have been inscribed with a minor protective spell, providing a temporary barrier against small arms fire (anything above bullets or arrows, or moderate magic projectiles, and the gauntlets' chance of effectiveness decreases).
Occupation : Spellsword and part-time writer.
Powers and Abilities: Sovan is a skilled martial artist and swordsman, and has trained to use his Chi to not only augment his skills (allowing him to block bullets with his sword, leap and run higher and faster than normal people, etc), but also for more spectacular feats such as firing bolts of energy from his bare hands (usually about the size of a tennis ball, and carrying about the force of a fierce punch). In addition, being the host of the Stardust Dragon has granted Sovan a level of aptitude in the mystical arts; making him a veritable spellsword.
Skills: Some of Sovan's known techniques are listed below:
Chi Augmentation: Sovan can channel his Chi throughout his body, allowing him to run faster, jump higher, and take more punishment than a normal person...so long as he's able to able to get the chance to focus the technique, first. Sovan can also use his Chi control to amplify the spiritual properties of his sword, or attempt to ease physical discomfort by directing that energy into an injured part of his body.
Stardust Flame: This spell conjures a ball of swirling white fire, with a core that shimmers with all the hues of the rainbow. This can be divided into seven smaller flames, which can be manipulated by Sovan's will. This spell has a number of applications--when arranged in a ring, they can amplify the mystical and spiritual abilities of anyone standing in the ring, and provide a barrier against evil spirits. The flames can also be used in an attempt to confound pursuers, or to counter the use of dark magic. In addition, their mystical light reveals things that might otherwise be hidden. These colorful flames will begin to fade as the amount of magic put into them wanes, disappearing altogether when the magic is completely used up.
Dragon Possession: While more of a passive technique, Sovan's role as host to the Star Dragon protects him against psychic intrusion and possession, and also enables him to perform astral projection (during which time his astral body rides on the astral version of the Star Dragon to see faraway events, or commune on a metaphysical level).
Stardust Dragon Summon: If allowed to focus, Sovan can summon the Stardust Dragon to the physical plane, where it manifests as a glowing, silvery-white outline with glowing green eyes (like a living constellation). While the dragon is a useful familiar, bringing it out leaves Sovan vulnerable--if it's defeated, the dragon's power is dispelled for a time, forcing Sovan to make do without its mystical abilities (and in a weakened state) until it can re-form itself. Further, Sovan usually has to remain still in order to serve as the Stardust Dragon's anchor to the mortal plane.
Character History: Sovan used to be a wanderer, a spellsword with an interest in protecting others and learning more about the multiverse. Upbeat and good-natured, he found his way to the Napping Cat's Dream, where the rich "Zen" philosophy of the realm caught his interest like nothing else. He ultimately chose to stay, and for the longest time, he journeyed through the Dream as one of its vaunted Psychadelic Avatars. He made friends, experienced love, and took part in all manner of adventures.
But as the Dream grew, it also changed. More and more Avatars came pouring in, and the nature of the Dream shifted from furry and philosophical to a strange, bizarre world--one in which Sovan had more trouble finding a place. Ultimately, when the Dream came to an end, Sovan was left to wander the multiverse once more...watching as other stories he followed came to their own conclusions, leaving him with only poignant memories as he wandered through an increasingly unfamiliar world...
...until now. World-weary and seeking a quiet place to retire, Sovan has found his way to Alef. Struck by its resemblance to the fantastic philosophical world of the Napping Cat's Dream, the host of the Stardust Dragon decided to make the place his home, willing to let himself slip into obscurity as a freelance writer as he meditated on the glories of old times.
However, the call to adventure sounds out once more...and perhaps it will be enough to reawaken the Sovan Kawasagi of old, allowing him to shake off the weight of his old miseries and rise, once more...
